1939年生まれ、1961年武蔵野美術学校（現・武蔵野美術大学）卒業。1973年に国展初出品で新人賞を受賞。一貫して力強い色面構成による抽象画を制作し、仏教思想や精神哲学に触発された作品も多い。「胸の奥に潜んでいる形なきものの形、声なきものの声のようなものの表現でありたい」と語る。現在、国画会会員。

Born in 1939, Graduated from Musashino Art School (Currently Musashino Art University) in 1961. His first application for 1973’s KOKUTEN, which is the open call exhibition which run by an artists’ organization KOKUGAKAI, resulted New Face Award.  Currently a member of KOKUGAKAI.

Ishihara has consistently produced abstract paintings with bold color surface composition, inspired by Buddhist thought and spiritual philosophy. He says, “I would like to express the shape of shapeless things or voice of a voiceless things which are hidden inside human’s heart.”
