Gallery Pictor では2021年9月4日(土)～10月24日(日)まで、Arts & Library Show [awareness] を開催いたします。

私たちは現在、限りない拡大と成長を目指したグローバリゼーションと経済至上主義の時代から、自然と調和した価値創造と循環の時代への転換点に生きています。また、私たちの生活は大量の情報を集積・処理・活用するデジタリゼーションと無縁ではいられず、人工知能とヒトが対峙する時も目前に近づいています。

こうした未来を前に、「人間らしさ」や「生命らしさ」とは何かといったことを再定義する、あるいは更新しようとする試みが、個人レベルでも組織レベルでも起こっていることが見受けられます。そのことが、この度のグループ展 [awareness] の企画へつながりました。

awarenessは、自己および他者や事物の存在・外部環境を認識して、それを情報として利用できる状態です。私たちが自分の置かれている状況を把握して生命を存続させ、他者と協力して社会を作り、道具を活用して科学技術を発展させてきたのは、awarenessが芽生えたからに他なりません。もちろんそれは人間だけでなく、他の生物にもあるものです。

本展は、生命の自覚や意識としてのawarenessを探りながら、私たちが新しい社会を築いていくための課題や問題を認識する気付きとしてのawarenessを喚起することを目指して展開します。

この[awareness]展には、来るべき未来を築くことになる新世代のアーティスト3名を迎えました。

生き物として人間が本来持っている感覚、目には見えないものを感覚する能力を「素知覚」と呼び、キャンバス上にその感覚を描写することを試みる畑山太志。

人工物である彫刻がより ”自然な” 存在になることを模索し、写実性とは異なる方法で人間らしさや生命を感じさせる造形を生み出そうとする石川直也。

全ての生命が時間と共に変化していく中で、それを留めておきたいという人間の欲求を写真表現に投影し、写真作品の地中での分解というプロセスを通して、変化という生命の摂理を視覚化する小野久留美。

会場には、展示作品やawarenessに因んだライブラリを併設し、ギャラリストと出品作家が選定した書籍をご覧いただけます。（会場での閲覧のみ、貸出不可）。アートを通じた感覚の刺激と、文章を通じた思考の刺激、 [awareness] を感じ取っていただければ幸いです。

We are pleased to have Arts & Library Show [awareness] from September 4, Saturday through October 24, Sunday.

We are now at a turning point from an era of globalization and economic supremacy aimed at endless growth to an era of value creation and circulation in harmony with nature. Also, our lives cannot be free from digitalization, which collects, processes, and utilizes a large amount of information, and the time when artificial intelligence and humans confront each other is approaching. Of course, other living things, not only humans, have awareness.

In the face of such future, there seems to be attempts being made at both the individual and organizational levels to redefine or renew what “humanity” and “lifeness” are. Those situations led to the planning of this group show [awareness].

‘Awareness’ is a state in which one can recognize the existence and external environment of oneself, others, and things, and use it as information. Since awareness has sprung up, we human beings have grasped the situation of ourselves, survived life, cooperated with others to create a society, and developed science and technology by utilizing tools.

This exhibition aims to explore [awareness] as consciousness of life and also to stimulate [awareness] as recognition of issues and problems for us to build a new society.

This group show [awareness] welcomed three new generation artists who will build the future.

Taishi Hatayama, who tries to describe the sensation that human beings originally have as a living thing, the ability to sense invisible things. He calls such ability as “primordial perception”.

Naoya Ishikawa, who seeks to make sculptures, which are artificial objects, more “natural”, and creates shapes that make us feel humanity and life in a way that is different from realism.

Kurumi Ono, who projects the human desire to keep things through photographic expression against all life changing over time, and visualizes the providence of life as change through the process of disassembling the photographic work in the ground.

You can enjoy the special library, in which books selected by gallerists and exhibiting artists are placed. (Books can only be viewed at the venue and cannot be rented.)

We hope that you will feel [awareness], the stimulus of sensation through art and the stimulus of thinking through books.
