Mariko Sakurai Statement for Go back and forth, Proceed at your pleasure
糸を走らせたりくぐらせたり、ぐるぐるまわしたり、糸同士でからまったり、糸は布という表と裏があるフィールドを行き来します。 糸の色によって感情があるように感じることもあります。
何して遊ぼうかな? どこで遊ぼうかな? だれと遊べるかな? そろそろおしまいって言われちゃうかな?
ここ何年かは、子どもたちがそばにいる生活が続いています。 鬼ごっこにしてもサッカーにしても、一緒に遊ぶととにかく走ることが多いです。 全力で体を動かしてみると、はじめのうちは体が重くてぎこちない動きしかできないものの、次第に使ってなかった身体の機能が完全ではないけれどよみがえってきました。
からだの感覚や日々感じることを縫うことで表現できないか考えています。
子どもたちとの関わりの中で感じることと、縫うという自身の制作スタイルのふたつの立ち位置から自分なりの作品を探りたいです。

Threads run, wiggle, spin around, and get tangled up with each other. Threads come and go between the front and back fields of fabric.
Sometimes it feels as if there is an emotion depending on the color of the thread.
What shall we play? Where shall we play? Who can I play with? Will they call it quits soon?
For the past several years, I have been living with my children by my side. Whether it is playing tag game or soccer, when we play together, there is a lot of running anyway.
When I tried to move my body with all my might, at first I could only move awkwardly because my body was heavy, but gradually my unused body functions came back to life, though not completely.
I am thinking about how I can express, by sewing, the sensations of my body and what I feel on a daily basis.
I would like to explore my works from two standpoint; one is feeling through interacting with children and another is sewing, my production style.
