Gallery Pictor は2023年4月より年間プログラム《あそぶものたち・すさぶものたち》をスタートいたします。本プログラムは共通のテーマのもとに8名の作家がそれぞれの解釈・表現を行うものです。
4月から順次、グループ展や各作家の個展、ワークショップなどの関連イベントを開催いたします。
メインテーマについて｜About Main Theme
本プログラムの「あそび」は、’play’や’fun’の意味に留まりません。
「あそび」を意味する言葉の原義を遡ると、「ゆきつ戻りつする運動」「波間にゆらゆらと浮かび漂うこと」「水面のさざなみ」「手で叩いたり楽器をつまびくこと」といった、軽やかに揺れ動く様を表す意味に辿り着きます。
また、「すさび」は漢字の「遊び」の別の読み方で、その意味は「自ずとわいてくる勢いのおもむくまま、興のおもむくままに、ふるまうこと」となります。
現代社会では、あらゆるものが情報化・サービス化され、あらゆる場所で前例や制度が出来上がっており、自ら「あそぶ・すさぶ」ことは難しくなっていると感じます。
本プログラムでは、「あそび」の原義の立ち返り、8名のアーティストが《自らの感覚を使い、ゆきつ戻りつしながら、興のおもむくままに》、「あそび・すさび」を体現します。

Gallery Pictor 2023 year-round program
Gallery Pictor will start our 2023 year-round program from April based on the common theme, Go back and forth, Proceed at your pleasure.
In this program, eight artists will interpret and the common theme and express their idea through their artworks. Beginning with the Opening Group Show in April and May, each artist will hold a solo exhibition or two-person exhibition, workshops, and other related events in sequence.
About Main Theme
This program focus on ‘play,’ but it is not limited to the meaning of ‘play’ or ‘fun’ which we use as usual.
The original meaning of the word for ‘play’ can be traced back to the meaning of; floating and drifting among the waves; rippling on the surface of the water; and clapping hands or plucking a musical instrument, all those are the light, swinging movements.
The Japanese word <asobu>, meaning ‘play’, has a different way of pronunciation in the same kanji character (遊), <susabu>, which means “to behave according to your own spontaneous impetus or your own excitement”.
In today’s society, everything is information-oriented, there are all kinds of services and precedents and systems have been established everywhere, making it difficult for people to ‘play’ (asobu/susabu) on their own.
This program is based on the original meaning of the word ‘play,’ and eight artists will embody ‘asobu/susabu’ by using their own senses, going back and forth, proceeding at their pleasure.
